Rep. Michelle Salzman -
FL State Representative, District 1
U.S. Army Veteran
A U.S. Army Veteran and mother of three, Michelle Salzman is a member of the Florida House of Representatives for the state’s 1st District, encompassing the northern portion of Escambia County.
Raised in Pensacola, she graduated from Pine Forest High School in 1995 before joining the U.S. Army, deploying as part of the NATO intervention in Bosnia. At the end of her service, Michelle obtained an associate’s degree at Pensacola State College (then Pensacola Junior College) and later a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of West Florida.
In 2020, Rep. Salzman was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. Since then, she has advocated for Florida Veterans and their families, access to mental health services, improvements to local infrastructure, and entrepreneurship.
Adron Chambers -
World Series Champion,
St. Louis Cardinals
Professional Baseball Player Adron Chambers played three seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming a World Series Champion as a pinch runner in the 2011 World Series. A Pensacola native, he attended Pensacola High School where he began his sports career. As quarterback for the PHS varsity football team, Chambers was named Pensacola News Journal’s 2004 All-Area Offensive Player of the Year.
After graduating in 2005, he attended Mississippi State University on a football scholarship before later transferring to Pensacola Junior College (now Pensacola State College) and playing baseball for the first time since his junior year in high school. He began his professional baseball career in 2007 and entered the Major League with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011.

Sonshine Moorer, with a remarkable 38-year career in Radio the entertainment industry, is celebrated as “The Hardest Working Woman in Show Business.” Her work as a writer and author, along with hosting the highly regarded TV talk show BLAB TV on the Gulf Coast, reflects her dedication to making a meaningful impact in the community.
Sonshine’s passion for health-related issues and education drives her active involvement in various community programs. She is a committed contributor and board member of several non-profit organizations, and finds fulfillment in giving back and working towards a brighter future. Being recognized and honored by the Northwest Florida community fuels her ongoing efforts to create positive change.
She hold a Bachelor of Arts in Office Computer Programming from Southern State University and an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Alabama State. These academic achievements, combined with extensive real-world experience, have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges our community faces.
Central to her community involvement is the Teen Advocacy Program (TAP), which Sonshine founded to instill educational values in teenagers and guide them toward a successful future. TAP has strengthened Northwest Florida’s community ties and allowed Sonshine to address social issues, promote education, and encourage health and wellness.
Sonshine’s commitment extends beyond discussion; she actively engages in creating tangible change. Her hands-on approach and ability to connect with people—marked by sincerity and passion—enable her to bring diverse voices together for impactful dialogue and action. Sonshine has had the privilege of hosting esteemed guests like Dr. Ian and participating in numerous community events to educate and inspire. Sonshine’s multifaceted engagement has cemented her reputation as a fair, positive, and dedicated advocate for her community.
Pensacola Police K-9 Unit
K9 Bear & Officer Madison Mlinac -
K-9 Bear is a two and a half year old Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic. He his named after the Bear family of Pensacola, who provided a donation to cover the cost of purchasing K-9 Bear. K-9 Bear was imported and assigned to Officer Madison Mlinac in February of 2023. Officer Mlinac and K-9 Bear completed a three month canine handler school prior to certifying with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a Patrol K-9 Team. Ofc. Mlinac and K-9 Bear are assigned to the Pensacola Police Department’s Community Outreach Division where they proactively patrol the City of Pensacola from 5 am to 5 pm. K-9 Bear currently has over three hundred and forty deployments where he has been responsible for over sixty arrests, two hundred and fifty narcotic seizures and has thirteen suspect apprehensions.
